Bony Fly is a DJ and producer from Geneva, Switzerland. He is known for bridging the gap between Caribbean and Latinx urban music in his productions and sets, connecting mainly reggaetón and dancehall by broadening them with various other genres rooted in the soundsystem culture. He started out in 2011, when he set up a studio to record bands, musicians and vocalists to create his own projects. In 2015, he launched a label, Sparring Partners, focusing on dub music. He launched his second imprint Dimelow in 2019. It reflects his vision of contemporary street music and the notion of inclusivity specifically in reggaeton and dancehall.
He starts to promote and curate his own event called Dancehall Fusion in 2016. These parties aim to introduce dancehall in a more alternative way, by blending it with other urban music genres based on soundsystem culture. The event is still going strong, and takes place in one of Geneva’s leading clubs, La Gravière, where the night has made a name for itself in the local scene. Guests have been the likes of Dre Skull, Swing Ting, Jubilee, Equiknoxx, Poirier, Tash LC, Felix Hall and Tako amongst others.
He’s released tracks on labels such as Cubiculo Records (Portugal), Pure Niceness (France), Chinese Man Records (France), Warrior Dread (Japan) and Cultural Warriors (Switzerland). His part in the GWO Sound collective, a team of five Geneva-based DJ’s and selectors that host a monthly radio show broadcasted on LYL Radio, maintains close ties with his home-city. He continues to have a regular radio show on Red Light Radio and regularly DJ’s all over that place, with recent gigs in Colombia, Germany, Mexico and the US.
